The value of a process diagram depends on what you put into its nodes. Do not stop at simply creating the shape of the diagram.

What you can configure on an Execution Node

Node Name…What is done in that step
Description…Supplementary information
Duration…How long it takes
Task Type…One of Decision, Routine, or Automated. Used when considering improvements
Badge…Indicates Approval, Forbidden, and so on
Assignment labels…Whose task it is
Detail process…Reference destination when breaking out into a separate process diagram
Manual/Link…Teachme Biz Manuals or Outside Links

Setting assignment labels enables Swimlanes

When you set assignment labels, the Swimlane view lets you reorder and view tasks by who is responsible for them. Tasks are also color-coded by assignment label, making it useful when discussing the division of roles between departments.

Set Task Type in advance

Task Type (Decision, Routine, or Automated) is used for aggregation in the improvement Report. For nodes where it is not set, the AI will estimate it from the content, but setting it in advance will make the aggregation more accurate.

Enter Duration for all Execution Nodes

If you enter a Duration for every Execution Node, the "longest and shortest paths" in the flow view let you compare time-consuming routes with shorter ones.
This can serve as material for improvement discussions.

Switch views when making edits

The node list view is well suited for the task of entering information. Because Duration and Manual availability are visible at a glance in a list, it becomes easier to spot nodes with missing data.

Switch views based on what you want to fix: use the flow view to adjust the flow itself, and use the Swimlane view to review how assignments are divided.
